Taco Buns
Chef:  Marcy Handcock - Longvalley, SD          Category:  Main Dishes

Ingredients:
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1 package yeast
2 cups flour
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 eggs
1/4 cup margarine
1 cup flour
2 lbs. hamburger
2 envelopes powdered Taco mix

Directions: Heat milk and water in microwave, 1 minute. In bread machine put yeast, flour, sugar, salt, eggs, and margarine (in that order). Pour heated mixture over margarine. Run on manual cycle, adding flour, (up to a cup) until dough leaves sides of container. Remove dough, set aside and prepare a second batch of dough. Let dough rise 1 hour. To make filling, brown 2 pounds of hamburger in microwave in a plastic sieve placed in a glass bowl to remove all grease. Put browned hamburger in a microwave safe container. Add powdered Taco mix decreasing water to 1 cup. Cook 4 to 5 minutes stirring occasionally. Take a ball of dough about the size of a tangerine. Pat into circle a scant 1/2 inch thick. Put heaping tablespoon taco meat on dough circle, sprinkle with grated cheese, and bring the dough up and around sealing the meat inside. Dont get liquid on edges of dough or it wont seal. Turn bun upside down on greased cookie sheet. Let rise 1/2 hour. Bake at 375°F about 15 minutes or nicely browned.

Notes: Serve hot, but also works to send as sandwiches for lunch.
