Mom's Stew

1 1/2 pounds ground beef
2 cans cut green beans
3 or 4 potatoes, diced
1 cup quick cook barley or Minute brand rice
salt to taste

Directions: Put ground beef (do not brown) in a Dutch oven pan, cover with water. Fill pan about half full of water then add green beans with juice. Add diced potatoes and salt. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours then add barley or rice. You can add more water if needed, cook for another 15 to 20 minutes.

Notes: This is a great leftover or you can freeze it for a busy day and you're in a hurry for a quick meal.
